Emerald

Emerald and ruby are the only two classic gemstones whose colour does not need further description. This gemstone is a variety of the mineral Beryl, coloured green by trace amounts of chromium. It has a hardness of 7,5-8 on the Mohs scale of mineral hardness. Jewellery grade emerald are mostly found in different parts of the world. Best known are Colombia, Brazil, Zambia, Afganistan.
